• Lexus at the ICA Miami with Marjan van Aubel (2023)

    8 Minutes and 20 Seconds is an installation by Dutch solar designer Marjan van Aubel, created for Lexus to reimagine the Lexus Future Zero-emission Catalyst (LF-ZC) concept car as an interactive experience. The installation was on view in the sculpture garden at the Institute of Contemporary Art, Miami (ICA Miami) during Art Basel week 2023. Malloy James collaborated on custom sound design for the piece.

  • Electric Odyssey for Bobby Anspach's Place for Continuous Eye Contact (2023)

    The captivating, transportive immersive installations by the late artist Bobby Anspach were on view in New York City for a special memorial exhibition in the fall of 2023. Titled Place for Continuous Eye Contact, the exhibition featured four of his machines, which viewers enter into for a fully immersive experience of consciousness and connectedness . As part of the exhibition, artists and musicians were invited to create new work inspired by Booby’s practice, and Malloy James created a 30 minute ambient piece titled Electric Odyssey for use during events and performances.

  • Suchi Reddy's LOOK HERE at the National Building Museum (2023)

    LOOK HERE is an award-winning installation by renowned architect Suchi Reddy at the National Building Museum in Washington DC. Inspired by the ancient Japanese artifact called the "magic mirror," which reveals a hidden image when illuminated, Look Here reveals unexpected reflections of you as you walk along a sinuous ramp that traverses the atrium of the museum. A score by Malloy James accompanies the installation and video documentation, augmenting the multi-dimensional nature of the work.

  • Lexus for Milan Design Week with Suchi Reddy (2023)

    Shaped by Air is an installation for Lexus by acclaimed New York-based artist and architect Suchi Reddy. Situated inside Superstudio, the site-specific installation invites guests to discover a to-scale interpretation of the Lexus Electrified Sport after traveling through an enveloping forest of its composite shapes. An accompanying soundscape composed by Malloy James for Lexus draws inspiration from the wind and brings visitors further into harmony with nature.

  • Germane Barnes's Rock | Roll in the Miami Design District (2022)

    Rock | Roll is an installation for the Miami Design District by architect-designer Germane Barnes. Designed as a celebration of the communities who have shaped Miami’s one-of-a-kind, polyethnic culture, from the city’s earliest foundations to today, the project is realized across the Design District’s public spaces. These tracks were designed specifically for the installation in collaboration with Germane Barnes, setting the tone and energy for the spaces they activate.

  • Sound Engineering

    Malloy James is also an experienced sound engineer, practiced in managing audio recording, amplification, enhancement, editing, mixing, and mastering. He works both on independent projects and as an in-house engineer for a prominent NYC recording studio, working with artists across genres including rock, pop, hip-hop, and jazz.
